The power sources can go anywhere from 6v to 16v as the circuit is very versatile. 12v min is required to hit 450ma as anything less will provide only about 250ma. If you have any old cell phone/pda/mp3/game console 12v car adapter you can make this project!

Altoids Tin - RoadWarrior - USB Charger, LED flashlight, 4gb flashdrive, bluetooth receiver

Altoids Tin - RoadWarrior - USB Charger, LED flashlight, 4gb flashdrive, bluetooth receiver Tube. Duration : 3.42 Mins.

I know, the title is insane. This is my 3rd or 4th offering to the altoids tin arena of projects. I travel quite a lot on business and am always in need of a few things, namely, a USB device charger, flashdrive or memory stick, small flashlight, USB hub and of course the handy bluetooth receiver. So, here it all is in one package!! Introducing, the Altoids "RoadWarrior" Survival Kit aka the "Minty-MEGAboost" !! Powered by 8, yes 8AAA batteries (4x4 in parallel) for a total of 6 volts and +/- 2200mah of charging goodness. This will charge my ipods/phones many times over and when there's isn't enough juice to keep on charging there is plenty to power the high intensity LED flashlight for days after. The flashdrive, USB hub and bluetooth receiver are all powered by the computer and work flawlessly. This thing goes everywhere I do.....except on airplanes (freaks security out bad)! -Side note: Because I'm using two 4AAA packs in parallel I can use the device with only 4 or all 8AAA batteries, handy!

Altoids Smalls Tin - Rapid USB Charger "MightyMinty-miniBoost"

Altoids Smalls Tin - Rapid USB Charger "MightyMinty-miniBoost" Tube. Duration : 4.08 Mins.

In this video I show my Altoids smalls tin - Rapid USB Charger project. This is the smallest fully self contained rapid USB device charger I've seen so far, others may have done it but I haven't found them yet. Powering the charger are (2) A123 cells, about 1300mah and good for 2.5 charges on my mobile. The charger puts out around 800ma of current under full charge and takes only 30 mins or so to put a full charge on a 3.7v blackberry curve. I found some a123 cells online for around .00 each and some high capacity rechargeable's are available for only a few dollars more. If anyone is interested in building this please comment and i'll share the details of what was used.
